Why The Innovative Thinking Process Is A Powerful Advantage For Distance Learning

Societal shocks throughout history force individuals to interact in new ways. In our age, that shock is coming in the form of the Coronavirus pandemic, which is forcing an accelerated adaptation to distance learning. When this pandemic passes, our education systems will be forever altered to new systems of some form of remote interaction. Because of all this, a critical question arises: What skill is going to give students a powerful advantage within the future systems of distance learning? The answer is a skill developed through the ITP, which stand for Innovative Thinking Process.

The original use of the ITP was in the corporate ecosystem. It was created by OIsource (oisource.com) to teach corporate teams a breakthrough process for problem solving and innovation. It is a demanding, self-directed, mental and writing exercise that uses thought experiments to enable individuals to start originating, interconnecting and validating ideas. The ITP then reaches beyond ideas and develops Idea Models. This is the reason breakthrough innovators succeed, because of their natural skill to quickly develop Idea Models that have the capability to project future concepts that cannot yet be experienced directly. Furthermore, individuals can with extended use of the ITP acquire an advanced ability, beyond even developing Idea Models, to achieve high-level creative thinking. Within this type of thinking there is nearly unlimited potential for self-growth, which has been labeled by Psychology as a ‘growth mindset’. This type of advanced thinking will become a necessity for individuals in the near future as AI, quantum computing and big data are combined to be used in cloud-based apps that will further transform society and decimate current education curriculums.

One of the most simple and popular applications of the ITP in the corporate ecosystem is for individuals to use it before they meet to ‘group think’ new ideas in ideation sessions. The ITP is used this way because ideation sessions by themselves produce poor and inconsistent results. That bears out in statistics like; 70% to 95% of new ideas in the form of new product launches failing. That is why coming up with successful new ideas in ideation sessions had always been considered just a blind shot in the dark. But once the ITP skill is learned, it only takes 20 minutes for each individual to come up with their own new Idea Model to present to the ideation team. That way the outcome of that team meeting becomes much more productive and has the greatest potential to succeed.

The reason the ITP can accomplish this is because it empowers humans to use their emotion and intuition as tools, alongside their intelligence. To understand this new paradigm, the crucial role of emotion and intuition within human interaction needs to be unmasked. The most important aspect to understand is that Emotion and intuition are not just another form of intelligence. Emotion and intuition are completely separate mind components from intelligence. They exist outside intelligence while interacting with intelligence. Within humans, the role of emotion and intuition is to quickly impart context to intelligence. This means imparting context to all images and sound that humans see and hear. Words and language by themselves, which are simply a manifestation of intelligence, comprise only 10% of actual human communication. So 90% of human communication is non-verbal and therefore based on emotion and intuition. But this non-verbal communication becomes significantly obstructed in remote interactions.

Therefore, as important as it is to use the ITP before in-person interaction at a co-location, it is even more critical to use the ITP before any remote interaction. This is because remote interactions exponentially increase ineffectiveness and distrust within human communication, which inevitably leads to the miscommunication of ideas. And ‘ideas’ within the education setting encompass all teacher instructions and student responses. The result of this type of miscommunication is even more failures after remote interactions than there were after in-person interactions. The ITP solves this issue by empowering individuals to form Idea Models which have a built-in emotional context and comprised of a deeper mosaic of information than regular ideas. Then the communication through Idea Models becomes extremely effective and trusted, no matter what platform individuals use to interact.

But the ITP is more critical to use for distance learning settings in education than it is even for remote work in corporations. This is because in co-locations, where both teachers and students are in the same classroom, they heavily rely on the advantage of having 90% of the communication be non-verbal. This is a huge co-location advantage that both teachers and students have always unconsciously taken for granted. Once that co-location advantage is taken away both teachers and students are at a huge disadvantage for remote communication. Consequently, the ITP gives back that powerful advantage to everyone that is teaching and learning remotely.

Now, with the Coronavirus changing so many lives, OIsource would like to help individuals and teams who may be learning and teaching remotely for the first time. We would like to ease this transition, from co-located classrooms to remote settings, by making the ITP course available at no charge at: oisource/teachable.com/p/itp

Just type in the code word: FreeITP within the coupon prompt when signing up. Then take the course and start your journey on developing a powerful distance learning.
